Drain repairs and renewals

Sluggish drains can cause a lot of inconvenience and can often mask a more serious problem. Whilst most drainage issues generally stem from being clogged or blocked up due to a change in temperature, food debris, tree roots, leaves or general wear and tear; sometimes drains can get seriously damaged and even collapse! If a drain is collapsed and cannot be relined, then excavation may be the only answer.

At KJC Drainage, by using the latest technology we are able to investigate and locate the cause of the problem in order to make good. Having conducted an in-depth CCTV drain survey, we will look to remedy your drain dilemmas in the most cost effective, least disruptive and environmentally friendly way.

Methods for drain repairs

Having pinpointed the problem via a CCTV drain survey, our experienced team of drain experts will talk you through the various solutions before proceeding to repair your broken drain. The methods we employ for drain repairs include:

Drain lining

Thanks to advances in modern technology, we now have the ability to repair drains without having to dig up or disturb the area around it. By filling a polyester sleeve with resin, we can install a lining which bonds to the inside of the faulty drain, covering any cracks, holes or mis-aligned joints.

Drain patches

Patching is a similar procedure to drain lining but provides a more cost-efficient solution. We would look to use drain patches when only specific areas of pipe needs fixing, and not the entire length.

Drain excavation

Excavation is often used as a last resort and will only be employed if all other options have been explored. We would use excavation if a drain is in too poor a condition, has root damage, or has a series of leaks that are beyond repair. Excavation involves digging a hole or trench in the ground to allow access to the damaged drain. At KJC Drainage we do this as safely and with as little disruption as possible, reinstating all surfaces to a like for like manner.

Whose responsibility are drain repairs

If, a drain that serves your home is outside of your property boundary, then it is up to your local water authority to fix and maintain it. This also includes all drains which are on your property but are shared with others.

If the pipe coming out of your home is on your property, and is not shared with your neighbours, then it is up to you to look after it. You should ensure that you keep the water flowing freely and sort any blocked drains, or stinky sink issues out immediately.

Prevention is always better than cure, so it is really important that you think about what you place down your plugholes in order to prevent problems from occurring. If you do experience a clogged-up toilet, ominous aroma, or overflowing basin, then please give KJC Drainage a call.
